ELOXYCHEM partners met in Regensburg to advance sustainable electrochemical production routes

On 3-4 March, the ELOXYCHEM consortium gathered in Regensburg, Germany, for its latest project meeting, kindly hosted by project partner ESy-Labs GmbH at its facilities. The meeting brought together partners from across the consortium to review progress, share recent achievements, and discuss the next steps towards the development of innovative electrochemical production routes for organic chemicals.

The two-day meeting marked an important milestone for the project, providing an opportunity for in-depth technical discussions on the advancement of first-of-a-kind electrochemical processes for the production of organic acids. These compounds have significant commercial potential across a range of industrial sectors, including:

  • Coating additives, catalysts, and fine chemicals
  • Agrochemicals, surfactants, fragrances, and dyes
  • Polymers for coatings, filaments, and engineering materials

Partners exchanged updates on ongoing activities, evaluated recent results, and coordinated future work to support the project’s objective of delivering more sustainable and resource-efficient chemical production pathways for Europe.

In addition to the technical sessions, participants were given a tour of the ESy-Labs laboratories, where they had the opportunity to explore advanced equipment used for chemical characterisation and process development. Among the highlights was an innovative parameter-screening setup capable of independently varying key process parameters for multiple screening cells, including temperature, applied voltage or current, agitation conditions, and the controlled introduction of inert or reactive gases. The visit provided valuable insights into the experimental capabilities supporting the development and optimisation of electrochemical processes within the project.
